Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
As a part of the Insanity exercise routine, there is a regular fit test every 2 weeks in order to see how you’ve processed since starting. So far I’m looking forward to it, ready to beat past goals and go the distance. I’ve also been attentive to what I’ve been eating, sticking to smaller portioned meals & snacks, drinking plenty of fluids and keeping hydrated. I’ve never drank as much water that I do now than I did before. Bathroom trips are frequent, making hanging out with baby difficult. It also makes work more of a task, especially since I work in a 12 story building.
So after the fit test, there have been some improvements. On one task, I slacked and got lower numbers, but I dug deep and went through the tasks in one shot. And as of late, I noticed my rest breaks have lowered, so that means my cardio has improved. I’m proud of myself for going through these past 2 weeks. Most people don’t make it this far from what I hear, but if it’s true it’s what they say when they discuss after conquering Insanity, the results will show, then I have a long road ahead of me. Only 6 weeks left.
So from the last update on my life, I had said I was taking a new direction with my life, and in doing so, my health is now an obstacle I had to tackle. I had lost a drastic amount of weight when my father passed back in April of 2010, having dropped nearly 20 pounds in 2 months, without exercise and increasing on my smoking. Looking for a new life alternative was something that I had to do.
Now fast forward to 2012 and my weight is down to about 200 lbs, still a bit out of shape, and in need to get fit. As the late night television shows come to and end, it begins a constant showing of infomercials. An Insanity infomercial came on and convinced me to order it for myself. I must be insane. It’s even more insane that I’m using it. I never really stuck to any form of physical activity I had assigned myself, but this had made things easier. I had a coach, started watching my proportions and slowly weaned away from junk food. So since February 20th, I have performed the workout routines assigned, and have until the end of April to post my results. So far, I’ve felt a huge difference with me. I’m more energetic, feel stronger, confidence, and most importantly, happy with the results I see so far.
Why am I doing it? For the benifits of having a healthy new lifestyle, with a more proportion controlled diet, and altering my moods. As well as wanting to be fit to keep up with my daughter when she starts becoming more adventurous. Plus it’s always a good feeling being a fat kid in high school who made a drastic change later in life. And last, but not least, it’s for a dream I have, but that dream is for another entry.

As I grow up with tattoos coming to mind, people say you’ll regret it when you’re older. These people didn’t. Neither will I.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can spend 4-5 hours on the internet looking and editting photos, being on blogs, playing games, talking to other people via messaging, debating through message boards, watching videos, etc… all while there is company with you physically there. Yet we now live in a society where having a screen in front of you constantly is normal. And yes, I know, I have a screen in front of me now as I write, but to be honest, I’m only online cause I write, research subjects, or catching up with the media, instead of being glued to it ALL FUCKING DAY. Nobody ever seems to have a game night, yet they see one on tv, and say, “we should do that!”, or see a place online they want to visit but they never can seem to find the energy to get their ass up and do something.
The internet kills lives, and I say that cause you think about it, do you visit people as much as you used to since Facebook became mainstream? Or do you just look up their page to see a recent status, “like” it, and move on? Do you go out to the movies as much with friends, or do you find a torrent and download that shit? Do you have a peraon in the room that you love hanging out with so much, that your eyes are glued to the screen or on them? Be real. It’s killed all social fun.Tell me right now you’re not in the confines of your bedroom, and kind of agreeing with me. So… do something about it. GTFO, and that last O is for outside. And for those of you that just came home from something, then that comment wasn’t ment for you.
4-5 hours on the internet isn’t a pastime, it’s an addiction, and obsession where you constantly ask themselves when is the next time they’re going to be in front of a screen. It’s sad. It’s pathetic. And it’s destroying me. And one day I’ll be compounded to nothing but dust and will thankfully be free of the internet. And that’s such a gloomy thought, that death will equal out to freedom from the world wide web.
1st & 2nd to last game of the 2011 Mets season vs. the Cardinals. Jose Reyes had 2 home runs that night. We tied all the way to the 13th inning, while I sat in the 13th seat. Unfortunately we lost, but it happens. This year I hope to attend more games :D
