Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Today is October 16, 2011. It’s 3:30 in the afternoon, and we’re about to have a baby. Emillie Eloise has been making me anxious. We’re in the 12th floor, in room 22. We have a Zenith television from the 80’s looking at us, while I stare out into the window, peering down 10th avenue. I hear your heartbeat in the background as we’re watching the Walking Dead.
Remember your parents are a bit different. The water broke at about 8:40 last night while mom was on the toilet trying to pee. I’m not surprised though, seeing as how it was to be sooner than later. Anyway, we’re passing time by talking, mommy crocheting, and daddy drawing. Grammy is on the way, and soon, you, Emmy, while join us soon :D
Grammy came in at 10:30, and of course she’s in a panic. But not for nothing, but it brings a little humor to the room. Were reviewing through pictures and videos and making some, along the way. We hear babies in the background, but we’d rather hear yours. The nursing staff regularly checks mommy out to see how you’re doing, and all is well. We will try and get rest now, since later will be the big day. (10/17/11 @ 12:45 p.m.)
I awake to nurses checking her out, and after nearly 48 hours of labor, mommy asks for the epidural. I’m proud that she got so far, but mommy feels discouraged, since she’s unable to go through the birth naturally. Regardless, she took the labor like a champ. At about 8 o clock, the doctor started prepping the room for a c-section. In the meantime, your godfather was here running errands for us, Grammy and I collected our things and mommy was taken to room to be opened up.
As the procedure took place, daddy was by mommy’s side, and finally on October 17th, 2011, at 8:41 p.m., weighing in at a whopping (using term loosely) 5 lbs.,13 oz., you joined us into this world. You were my belated birthday gift.
Love, now and forever,
